Two Injured In Augusta Car Accident on Route 26

AUGUSTA, NEW YORK (March 9, 2024) – Two people were injured in an Augusta car accident on Route 26, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

Augusta police officials are saying that the incident began on Wednesday morning. A Dodge Dakota pickup truck was heading down the road when a tire left the ground before the truck flipped over.

Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help all of the victims. Two people were taken to Wynn Hospital.

Liability For Augusta Car Accidents

Speeding is one of the most common causes of car accidents. According to the National Safety Council, “Speeding was a factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2021, killing 12,330, or an average of over 33 people per day. The total number of fatal motor-vehicle crashes attributable to speeding was 11,057.” It is important that certain steps be taken after any collision.

  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • Surveillance footage should be sought.
  • A personal injury attorney should be contacted.

Depending on the facts of any case, the city or government agency responsible for a road could be liable for a collision. This may be the case if a dangerous condition on a roadway contributed to a crash. It is important for accident victims to understand that they do have rights. Any person who is injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
