Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the injured victim. The motorcyclist was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip to receive treatment for serious injuries.

Liability for West Babylon Car Accidents
New York law requires drivers to respect the right of way of other vehicles and use caution before making any turn. Under Vehicle and Traffic Law § 1141, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right of way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.” Victims of motorcycle collisions tend to suffer very serious injuries.
- Broken bones
- Head injuries
- Lacerations
- Spinal cord injuries
There is a presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that turns into the path of another vehicle traveling the opposite direction. Unfortunately, negligent drivers and their insurance providers are not likely to accept responsibility when they caused an accident that results in someone being seriously injured. This is why it’s so important that these incidents are properly investigated by an outside party. Victims are able to pursue some measure of accountability through a bodily injury claim.
