Summer Internship at Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C.
Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. (GLK) is seeking interns for the summer. This position can be filled by either an undergraduate or law school student. The internship is located in our corporate office in New York City. Below are descriptions for the positions available for the internship.
Undergraduate Internship Level
For undergraduate interns, a qualified candidate should be hardworking and diligent. Interns should be self-motivated and unafraid to ask questions, whether regarding the desire for more work, assistance on assignments/projects, or court experiences they would like to attend. Furthermore, a qualified candidate should be open to criticism and able to learn from his/her mistakes.
GLK undergraduate interns have two major roles: (1) assisting firm partners with records and files in cases and (2) requesting records from medical professionals, hospitals, or third-party institutions. The first role, directly working with firm partners, typically entails organizing case files and medical records, putting together binders for trial preparation, or conducting research on new cases. The second role, working with legal assistants and associate lawyers, requires undergraduate interns to complete and send out paperwork to request medical records, contact doctors/hospitals/third-parties to follow up on medical records requests, and communicate with clients to clarify the details of a case.
Law School Internship Level
On the law school level, a candidate should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and be eager to learn from the partners, associates, and staff. A candidate should also be flexible. At any given time, GLK handles many cases at various stages, and interns can expect assignments ranging from attending intake meetings with potential clients to revising motions for summary judgment.
GLK law school interns will conduct legal research, assist in getting a case trial-ready, and draft motions and legal memoranda, all while being exposed to the various stages of litigation and law practice. An intern can expect to meet clients, medical experts, and other attorneys. An intern may also attend court appearances and trials to learn from GLK partners and associates.
