About Cydney Korek

Cyd joined Gersowitz, Libo, and Korek P.C. as an Associate after serving the people of the State of New York for three years as an Assistant District Attorney at The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.

As a prosecutor, her caseload consisted of matters ranging from DWI’s to Drugs to Guns to Felony Assaults. Through her work, she gained insight into the neighborhoods and people of Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Dumbo, Cobble Hill, Red Hook, Bedford Stuyvesant, East Flatbush, Dyker Heights, Bay Ridge and Fort Hamilton.

During her years as a prosecutor, Cyd was no stranger to the courtroom. She presented to the Grand Jury securing numerous indictments and worked daily with witnesses and law enforcement in presenting the People’s cases and often relied on forensic science in doing so. Post indictment, Cyd continued her courtroom work appearing at arraignments through evidentiary hearings, trials, and sentencing.

Cyd’s passion for public service has provided her with great satisfaction in representing children and elders, as well as victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Cyd received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2017 following her graduation from The Pennsylvania State University in 2014, where she graduated with a B.A. in English and a concentration in Human Development and Family Studies.

Her commitment to New York’s communities is exemplified through her long time volunteering with the Gardiner Foundation, a foundation built to inspire and motivate the Bronx community through outreach programs, community service, community prayer, and a common love of basketball. The Foundation started in 2006, when the foundation’s namesake lost six family members in a single car accident. The Foundation was created in the Gardiner family’s honor and memoriam to help other families who have been struck by tragedy. Since 2009, Cyd has volunteered with the foundation’s many programs including the annual youth scholarships, Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, Youth Basketball Clinic, annual Basketball Tournament and many more events.

In her spare time, Cyd is a half marathon runner and enjoys training with her two year old Weimaraner, Tucker.
