Anthony Makarov joined Gersowitz Libo & Korek as an intern during his second year of law school, and became an associate in 2018 upon graduation. Mr. Makarov handles catastrophic personal injury and medical malpractice cases. He has worked on all aspects of a case, from the beginning investigation to trial. Additionally, Mr. Makarov has drafted and argued summary judgement motions on complex issues in the State courts of New York. Recently, Mr. Makarov prepared a case and assisted Senior Partner, Jeff Korek, at trial where a 2.7 million dollar jury verdict was obtained.
Mr. Makarov attended Fordham University Law School where he was a member of the International Law Journal. During law school, Mr. Makarov interned in the New York Legal Assistance Group’s Elder Law Unit where he first developed his passion for helping those truly in need of justice. In the Elder Law Unit, Mr. Makarov prepared advanced directives and supplemental needs trusts for English and Russian speaking clients. During this internship he also participated in the successful elimination of Medicaid spend downs and challenges to the HRA’s reduction of clients’ home-care hours. Mr. Makarov was also a member of Fordham Law’s Criminal Defense Clinic where he sharpened his oral advocacy skills and provided legal assistance to those who could not afford an attorney.
