Avi joined the firm in April of 2014 as a legal intern and upon being admitted to the bar, became an Associate in October of 2015. His practice focuses on Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury litigation, trial preparation and prosecution with a concentration on Motor Vehicle and Bicycle Accidents, Premises Liability, Labor Law and Victims of Sexual Abuse.
Avi handles all aspects of a case from initial investigation and evaluation, through litigation and depositions, and into jury selection and trial. He recently obtained several settlements in the litigation stage for victims of motor vehicle accidents in the amounts of $100,000 in Queens, $400,000 in the Bronx, and $332,500 in Suffolk County.
He also possesses vast trial experience and know-how. Avi takes pride in his ability to communicate and connect with his clients and has represented several Plaintiffs as the lead trial attorney on their case. He recently obtained a $125,000 settlement prior to opening statements in a medical malpractice trial in Suffolk County, a $600,000 settlement prior to closing arguments in a pedestrian trip and fall trial in Westchester County and a $175,000 settlement prior to jury selection for an injured delivery worker in Kings County.
Before joining the firm, Avi served as a court clerk for the Honorable James E. d’Auguste in New York County Civil Court and as a Claims Bureau intern for the New York State Attorney General’s Office. Avi has served as a panelist on “The Health of Our Nation: From National Security to the ACA,” a policy discussion hosted by U.S. Representative for the 13th Congressional District, Adriano Espaillat. Avi has also sat on a New York County Judicial Screening Panel as a New York State Trial Lawyers Association appointee.
Avi spent his formative years living in Israel, and is a dual American and Israeli citizen fluent in Hebrew. In his spare time, Avi enjoys playing soccer, basketball and baseball and traveling with his wife Olivia, a teacher with the New York City Public Schools.
