Police Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver Involving in Deadly Holbrook Car Accident Along Broadway Avenue

Pedestrian Killed In Clifton Car Accident

HOLBROOK, NEW YORK (June 18, 2026) – A pedestrian has tragically died in a Holbrook hit-and-run car accident at 780 Broadway Ave.

Holbrook police officials are saying that the accident took place around 9 PM on Tuesday night. A pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver involved in the crash did not remain at the scene and is currently being sought by police. Sadly, the 66-year-old driver involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police are reaching out to the public to help identify the driver involved.

Liability for Holbrook Hit-and-Run Car Accidents

Hit-and-run car accidents remain alarmingly common across New York and the United States. According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, “There were an estimated 737,100 hit-and-run crashes in 2015 (NHTSA, 2016). This translates to a hit-and-run crash happening somewhere in the U.S. every 43 seconds.” Victims of pedestrian accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.

  • Broken bones

  • Head injuries

  • Lacerations

  • Spinal cord injuries

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with a pedestrian, this could be construed as negligence. Even if a pedestrian is in the middle of the road, this does not relieve a driver of their duty of care to avoid collisions. Any person injured in a car accident is able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim. The family of any person killed is able to seek some measure of justice through a wrongful death claim.
