Liability for Bronx Car Accidents
Car accidents remain a leading cause of preventable injury and death in the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “2023 marks the second consecutive decrease in deaths. Deaths decreased 3% in 2023, following a 2% decrease in 2022. From 2019 to 2021, deaths increased by 20%. In 2023, 44,762 people died in motor-vehicle crashes compared to 46,027 in 2022 and 46,980 in 2021.” Many different factors could contribute to a car accident.
- Distracted driving
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
- Driver intoxication
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid colliding with other vehicles in the roadway. They must continuously scan the road ahead of them and slow down when necessary. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting another vehicle, this may be construed as negligence. The family of any person killed in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of justice through a civil claim.
