Albany officials are saying that the collision took place on Wednesday afternoon. An unmarked police cruiser was involved in a collision with another police vehicle.

Four officers were injured in the collision. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability For Albany Car Accidents

Speeding remains one of the leading causes of car accidents in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2022, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” There are a number of other factors that could contribute to any collision.

  • Distracted driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor driving habits
  • Vehicle system failures

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. If a driver fails to slow down in order to avoid a collision, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Victims of car accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.

  • Broken bones
  • Head injuries
  • Lacerations
  • Spinal cord injuries

The majority of car accidents are preventable and involve some amount of driver error. Sadly, drivers will often do everything in their power to deny responsibility if they are involved in a collision. Any person injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim. A personal injury attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
