New York City officials are saying that the collision took place on Monday. A cyclist was heading through the intersection when they were hit by an SUV.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with police. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Liability for Brooklyn Bicycle Accidents
Cyclists lack the protection of those in enclosed vehicles and are much more likely to be seriously injured in a crash. According to the National Safety Council, “Bicycle-related deaths peak in the warmer months, starting in July, and they remain high through October. In 2023, the most deaths occurred in October, with 156 deaths and the fewest in February with 81 deaths.” Certain steps should be taken after any pedestrian accident.
- Surveillance footage of the crash should be sought.
- Victims should seek medical attention as early as possible.
- Medical records related to injuries should be preserved.
- Victims should seek the guidance of a bicycle accident attorney.
Drivers must maintain a safe speed and follow distance from all bicyclists. But in far too many situations, drivers will adopt unsafe habits that eventually lead to collisions. Accidents are particularly common at intersections. Any person injured in a bicycle accident may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
