Investigation Underway After Construction Worker Died in Workplace Wall on the West Side of Manhattan
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (February 3, 2026) – A construction worker has tragically died in a Manhattan construction accident at a construction pit near 12th Avenue.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. A construction worker fell nearly 60 feet into a pit at the worksite.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the injured victim. Paramedics performed CPR and other life-saving measures.
But these efforts proved to be ineffective. He was later pronounced dead. It remains unclear how the fall took place.
A full investigation by OSHA remains ongoing.
