HUNTS POINT, BRONX (February 3, 2026) – A 29-year-old woman has tragically died, and four people were injured in a collision between a car, a tractor-trailer, and a truck near Hunts Point Market.
New York City officials are saying the accident took place around 4:40 AM on Friday. A sedan was involved in a collision with a tractor trailer and a truck before spinning out of control.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help all of the victims. Four people were injured in the collision and taken to the hospital.
Sadly, one of the victims did not survive their injuries and died. The 13-wheel tractor trailer was also leaking fuel after the crash, prompting a cleanup.
Liability for Hunts Point Car Accidents
Drivers in New York City must slow down and exercise care to avoid colliding with pedestrians. According to NY Veh & Traf L § 1146, “every driver of a vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any bicyclist, pedestrian, or domestic animal upon any roadway and shall give warning by sounding the horn when necessary.” Drivers should take several actions to avoid colliding with pedestrians.
- Drivers should check the blind spots before making turns and intersections.
- Drivers should slow down as appropriate at night and during periods of low visibility.
- Drivers should abstain from taking alcohol and other intoxicating substances.
When drivers fail to slow down to avoid hitting any pedestrian in the roadway, this could be considered negligence. Even if a pedestrian is outside of a marked crosswalk, this does not relieve a driver of their duty to use caution to avoid collisions. It is important for victims of pedestrian accidents to understand that they do have legal rights. They are able to pursue damages through a personal injury claim.
