One Person Injured In Buffalo Dump Truck Accident

One Person Seriously Injured In Buffalo Dump Truck Accident With Tractor-Trailer Truck By Campbell Boulevard and Lockport Road

One Person Injured In Buffalo Dump Truck Accident

BUFFALO, NEW YORK (May 19, 2024) – A driver was injured in a Buffalo collision between a dump truck and semi-truck by Campbell Boulevard and Lockport Road.

Niagara County officials are saying that the incident took place around 10:00 a.m. on Friday. A dump truck and a semi-truck collided in the roadway, which caused both vehicles to leak fluid.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene in order to help. The dump truck driver was extracted and taken to the hospital with injuries.

Police cited the driver of the semi-truck for failing to yield the right-of-way to the dump truck. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability For Buffalo Semi-Truck Accidents

Semi-trucks account for a relatively small number of vehicles on the road. But they are involved in a disproportionate number of serious collisions. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, “Fatigue, drinking alcohol, and speeding are major factors in motor vehicle crashes overall. Although their presence does not always result in a crash, these three factors, as well as other driver, vehicle, and environmental factors, can increase the risk that a crash will occur.” Truck companies should take a number of measures in order to prevent accidents.

  • Truck drivers should be well-trained in how their particular vehicle operates.
  • Truck drivers should be well rested before heading out onto the road.
  • Truck companies should ensure that all of the vehicles in their fleet are regularly inspected and well-maintained.

All truck drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. Many collisions are caused by drivers who make dangerous turns. According to New York Vehicle Code 1141, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right of way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.” It is important that certain steps are taken after any semi-truck accident.

  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
  • Surveillance footage should be sought.
  • The police report for the collision should be collected.
  • An experienced truck accident attorney should be contacted.

Many truck accidents are preventable and involve some amount of human error. Fatigue, in particular, is a major cause of truck accidents. Companies will often push their drivers to complete deliveries as fast as they can. Sadly, though, truck companies will often do everything in their power to deny liability if one of their drivers is involved in a collision. Any person who is injured in a truck accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
