Weather Conditions Blamed for 30-Car Pileup on I-18 in Town of Lafayette That Left Several People Injured
TOWN OF LAFAYETTE, NEW YORK (January 18, 2026)– Many people were injured in a 30+ vehicle accident on Interstate 81 in the town of Lafayette.
New York State police are saying that the accident took place on Thursday. Around 37 vehicles were involved in a car accident, including several commercial trucks.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help all of the victims. Photos of the accident site showed intense weather conditions on the roadway.
Multiple people were taken to the hospital to receive treatment. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
