WOODSIDE, QUEENS (July 9, 2026) – A motorcyclist has tragically died in a Woodside, Queens box truck accident by Roosevelt Avenue.

New York City officials are saying that the crash occurred around 7:45 AM on Thursday, July 2. The motorcyclist was heading down the roadway when a delivery truck driver made a turn directly in front of them onto the side street.

A 31-year-old man driving a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle was not able to avoid the collision and collided with the truck at the intersection. Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help the injured victim.

That person sustained major injuries after being ejected from the motorcycle. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Liability for Woodside Box Truck Accidents

Motorcycles account for a relatively small number of the total number of vehicles on the roadway. But they’re involved in a disproportionately high number of serious injury and fatal collisions. According to the National Safety Council, “Although motorcycles make up only 3% of all registered vehicles and 0.6% of all vehicle miles traveled in the United States, motorcyclists accounted for 16.2% of all traffic fatalities and 3.6% of all injuries in 2024. A factor that directly influences motorcycle fatality trends is helmet use.” Drivers should take several measures to avoid motorcyclists.

  • Drivers should continuously check their blind spots before making any turn at an intersection.
  • Drivers should ensure that they are well rested before heading out onto the road.
  • Drivers should use their horns when necessary to alert other drivers of their presence.
  • Drivers should continuously scan the road ahead of them for potential hazards.

Drivers are expected to use caution at all times on the roadway. This necessitates that they follow all the traffic regulations. Drivers must be particularly cautious when they are making any turn at an intersection. They must first look for any oncoming vehicles that could be hazards. If a driver turns into the path of a motorcycle or other vehicle, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any person who died due to the negligent actions of a truck driver may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a wrongful death claim.
