Man Critically Injured in Woodbury Motor Vehicle Collision Near Village Lane

Long Island Police Investigating Woodbury Car Accident That Left Pedestrian Critically Injured by Village Lane and Jericho Turnpike

Man Killed In Bensonhurst, Brooklyn Car Accident at Bay Parkway

WOODBURY, NEW YORK (June 30, 2026) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a Woodbury car accident near the intersection of Village Lane and Jericho Turnpike.

Long Island officials are saying that the crash took place on Monday night. A 34-year-old man was attempting to cross the roadway when he was hit by a 2005 Honda traveling east along Jericho Turnpike.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help the injured victim. He was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.

The 23-year-old driver of the Honda remained at the scene and cooperated with police. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

Liability for Woodbury Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrians remain uniquely vulnerable to the hazards posed by cars. Far too many pedestrians are seriously injured or killed every year in New York and across the US. According to the NHTSA, “In 2021 there were 7,388 pedestrians killed in traffic crashes, a 12.5- percent increase from the 6,565 pedestrian fatalities in 2020. This is the highest since 1981 when 7,837 pedestrians died in traffic crashes.” Drivers should take several measures to avoid hitting pedestrians.

  • Drivers must maintain a safe speed at all times.
  • Drivers should check their blind spots before making turns at intersections.
  • Drivers should use their horns to alert pedestrians of their presence.
  • Drivers should continuously scan the road ahead of them for pedestrians and other potential hazards.

If a driver does not slow down in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian, they could be held legally responsible for the crash. What matters is foreseeability. For example, would a driver have hit the victim under normal circumstances if they had been obeying all traffic regulations? Any person injured in a pedestrian accident is able to seek some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
