Liability For New City Pedestrian Accidents
The vast majority of pedestrian accidents are totally preventable and involve some amount of driver error. According to the CDC, “Adults aged 65 years and older accounted for about 17% of the U.S. population in 2020. However, people ages 65 and older accounted for 20% of all pedestrian deaths in 2020.” There are a number of steps that should be taken after any pedestrian accident.
- Eye witnesses should be interviewed.
- Medical records should be preserved.
- Surveillance footage should be sought.
- A thorough investigation should be conducted.
It can be hard to know where to begin after any pedestrian accident. When a driver is negligent and kills a pedestrian they could be held at fault through a civil claim. Sadly, though, it is common for drivers to fight hard to deny liability for any collision.
