OSHA Investigation Underway After Two Workers Were Injured In Nassau County Conveyor Belt Accident

Forklift Accident

NASSAU COUNTY, NEW YORK (December 4, 2025) – Two workers were injured in a Long Island industrial accident as they were working at some type of material processing facility in Oceanside.

Long Island officials are saying that the accident took place on Monday morning. The two workers apparently became ensnared by an industrial conveyor belt.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victims. Both were taken to hospitals to receive treatment.

One of the workers was listed in critical condition. A full investigation by OSHA remains ongoing.

Liability for Nassau County Industrial Accident

Employers in New York have a legal obligation to maintain their work sites in a reasonably safe condition. Pursuant to 29 U.S.C. § 654(a)(1), “each employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.” Manufacturing centers should take many different measures to protect workers from injury.

  • All workers at these facilities should receive ample training on safety protocols.
  • Employers should conduct a hazard assessment to identify the greatest sources of potential harm.
  • Manufacturing sites should supply all their workers with adequate personal protective equipment.

Employers in New York can be liable for certain accidents where workers are injured. This may be the case if they allowed a worksite to be in an unsafe condition. Particularly, liability may apply if certain industrial codes are not followed. Any worker injured in this type of accident may be able to pursue damages through a civil claim. A personal injury attorney can examine the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
