Liability for Queens Bicycle Accidents
There has been a sharp rise in accidents involving motorized scooters across New York and the United States. According to AMNY, “NYC is seeing a deadly trend: A surge in crashes, including fatal ones, involving motorcycles, scooters, e-bikes and other two-wheeled motorized devices this year.” There are several factors that could contribute to a scooter accident.
- Speed
- Distracted driving
- Narrow streets
- Inclement weather
If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with a cyclist or other pedestrian, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Liabilities to a scooter app extend beyond any specific driver. A municipal entity could be liable for a collision if it was caused by a dangerous condition on public property. The family of any person who died in a crash is able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim.
