Landscaper Killed in Nassau County Electrocution Accident

Worker Was Reportedly Cutting Tree at Bellmore Home Before Fatal Accident

Man Critically Injured In Carthage Electrocution Accident

BELLMORE, NEW YORK (October 2, 2026) – A landscaper has tragically died in an electrocution accident while cutting down a tree at a home in Bellmore on Tanwood Court.

Nassau County officials are saying that the accident occurred around 5:30 PM on Thursday. The landscaper was taking down a tree when a limb from the tree apparently fell and struck an electrical line.

That contact caused the tree to become energized, which then came into contact with the landscaper. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victim. Sadly, he was beyond medical assistance and pronounced deceased at the scene.

A full investigation by OSHA remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Nassau County Electrocution Accidents

Depending on the unique facts of any case, there could be several potential sources of liability for any accident where a worker is injured or killed with electricity. This includes a utility company if they failed to maintain their power lines in a reasonably safe condition. Generally speaking, utility companies are supposed to cut off power to a certain area if a worker is going to be performing their job duties near that area. Evaluating responsibility for any electrocution accident requires examining several pieces of evidence.

  • They will consider whether overhead wires were evaluated before any cutting began.
  • They will consider the qualification of the workers and whether they had specialized gear.
  • They will also look into who is in control of the operation.
  • They will also review whether or not an employer or utility company had knowledge of a dangerous condition on the site.

When workers are injured or killed in New York, they will typically have recourse to the workers’ compensation system. This is a no-fault insurance scheme designed to help injured workers and their family. An injured worker or their family may also have recourse through a third-party liability claim. A third-party liability claim may be possible if an entity separate from a worker’s employer contributed to an accident.
