Five Injured In Greece School Bus Accident

Three Adults, Two Children Injured In Greece School Bus Collision Along North Greece Street and Peck Road

Five Injured In Greece School Bus Accident

GREECE, NEW YORK (May 17, 2024) – At least five people were injured after a school bus was involved in a collision with another vehicle by Greece Street and Peck Road.

Greece officials are saying that the accident took place on Thursday afternoon. A westbound vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign on Peck Road and collided with a southbound school bus.

The force of the impact caused the school bus to flip on its side. Fire Department officials and paramedics were called to the scene in order to help all of the victims.

Three adults and two children were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in order to receive care. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability For Greece School Bus Accidents

Thousands of people are seriously injured in bus accidents every year. According to The Journalist’s Resource, “on average, about 63,000 buses [of all kinds] are involved in an accident each year; about 14,000 result in an injured person, and 325 result in a fatal injury. About 50 passengers (including the driver) are killed, on average, in a given year.” Bus companies should take a number of measures in order to prevent bus accidents.

  • Bus drivers should be well-trained.
  • Buses should be regularly inspected and well-maintained.
  • Bus companies should limit the number of left turns on their driver routes as much as possible.

All drivers must use caution in order to avoid causing accidents. To that end, all drivers must stop at designated stop signs and scan for cross traffic before proceeding. There is a rebuttable presumption of negligence on the part of any driver who goes past a yield sign without yielding. Victims of bus accidents tend to suffer a number of injuries.

  • Broken bones
  • Head injuries
  • Lacerations
  • Organ damage

Many of the accidents that a person sustains in a bus accident may not be immediately obvious. Accident victims are often filled with adrenaline after a crash, which can easily mask feelings of pain. This is why it is important to seek medical care after an accident. It is also a good idea to seek the guidance of a skilled personal injury attorney.
