OSHA Investigating Fatal Bushwick, Brooklyn Trench Collapse Accident at Construction Site on Jefferson Street
BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN (April 21, 2026) – A construction worker has tragically died, and another worker was injured in a Bushwick trench collapse accident.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 8:30 AM on Thursday morning. Two workers were operating inside of the trench when it suddenly collapsed.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help both of the victims. A 40-year-old worker was transported to a local area hospital with major injuries.
Another worker was pronounced dead at the scene. The Department of Buildings has since issued a full stop-work order.
