New York Police Car for accident and crashes

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NEW YORK (August 7, 2026) – At least nine people were injured in a Rockland County car accident on the Palisades Interstate Parkway not far from exit 11 in Ramapo.

Rockland County officials are saying that the accident occurred around 1:10 PM on Monday. A Toyota Sienna was driving down the roadway when it was involved in a collision for undetermined reasons.

Paramedics responded to the scene of the collision to help all of the injured victims. A total of nine people were transported to nearby hospitals.

Heavy rain across the region may have contributed to the crash. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Rockland County Car Accidents

Speeding remains one of the leading causes of preventable car accidents across New York and the United States. According to NY Veh & Traf L § 1180, “No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing.” There are a number of other factors that could potentially contribute to any car accident in New York.

  • Poor weather conditions can cause a driver to lose control.
  • Vehicle system failure, like tire blowouts, is another major cause of accidents.
  • Driver distraction can also play a critical role.
  • Many car accidents were the result of drivers following a lead vehicle too closely.

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle in their own lane of traffic, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Any person injured in a car accident may be able to pursue some measure of accountability through a civil action. Liability for a car accident in New York may also extend to several parties if the vehicle involved was being used for any type of commercial purpose.
