Liability for Bronx School Bus Accidents
Many people are injured in bus accidents every year. According to the National Safety Council, “School bus-related crashes killed 110 people nationwide in 2024, down 14% compared to the 128 deaths in 2023, according to National Safety Council (NSC) tabulations of data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).” Many different factors could contribute to school bus accidents.
- Drunk driving
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
- Speeding
School buses are considered common carriers. Their drivers must operate with an abundance of caution to avoid causing harm to their passengers. If a school bus driver fails to slow down to avoid falling into a hole, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Any person injured in a school bus accident may be able to pursue some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
