He was found by another person floating in the water. That person pulled him to the side, and two workers were able to assist in lifting him out of the pool.

Paramedics were called to the scene to help the victim. He was given CPR before being transported to Huntington Hospital in serious condition.

Liability for Huntington Station Drowning Accidents

Property owners in New York have a legal obligation to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition. This must be done for the benefit of all persons on a property whose presence is reasonably foreseeable. If a property owner has actual or constructive notice of a dangerous condition on their premises, they must take action. There are many steps that property owners could take to help prevent drowning accidents.

  • Property owners may need to hire lifeguards at certain pools.

  • Property owners should have signs warning potential swimmers of the hazards they may encounter.

  • Property owners should ensure that pools are periodically inspected and well maintained.

Drowning remains one of the leading causes of preventable injury and death in the United States. A large number of the victims are children. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Every year in the United States there are over 4,000A unintentional drowning deaths.” Any person injured in a swimming pool accident at an apartment may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
