Liability For Brooklyn Car Accidents

More and more people are being killed or seriously injured every year in scooter accidents. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), “There were more than 190,000 emergency room (ED) visits due to all micromobility products from 2017 through 2020. ED visits had a steady 70% increase from 34,000 (2017), 44,000 (2018), 54,800 (2019) to 57,800 (2020).” There a number of factors that could contribute to a scooter accident.

  • Speeding
  • Driver distraction
  • Poor road conditions
  • Driver fatigue

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians and scooter riders. The family of any person that is killed in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and funeral costs. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
