Liability For Brooklyn Pedestrian Accidents
Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured every year in car accidents. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “More than 7,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2020. That’s about one death every 75 minutes.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a pedestrian collision.
- Speeding
- Distracted driving
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
Pedestrian collisions are much more likely to take place in urban settings and at intersections. Drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians, no matter where they are. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian on the roadway, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person injured in a pedestrian collision may be able to seek aid through a civil claim.
