Liability for New York Home Fires
Many people are injured or killed every year in accidents involving dump trucks. According to the Engineering News-Record, “Dump truck accidents severe enough that the vehicle had to be towed away rose 9%, hitting 8,206 in 2016, the latest year statistics are available.” Multiple factors could contribute to any dump truck crash.
- Speeding
- Distracted driving
- Poor road conditions
- Inclement weather
Dump truck drivers must operate their vehicles with a great deal of caution to avoid collision. They must continuously scan the road ahead of them for hazards. Many dump truck collisions are caused by drivers that are speeding. If a dump truck driver is negligent and causes a car accident, their employer could be held at fault. It is important that evidence be properly preserved after any dump truck accident.
- Medical records should be collected.
- Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
- The vehicles involved should be inspected.
- The police report of the collision should be reviewed.
Dump truck collisions can be complex events. The factors that contribute to a crash could take place hours, days, or even weeks before the event. A person injured in a dump truck crash may be able to see some measure of accountability through a civil claim. This extends to surviving family members of any person who died. They’re able to pursue damages through a wrongful death claim.
