Liability For New York Jet Ski Accidents
Jet ski accidents are far more common than many people may realize. According to Motor Biscuit, “Jet skis are responsible for hundreds of watersports deaths and accidents annually. The causes include the lack of surrounding protective shell that a boat provides, operator inexperience or inattention, riding at fast speeds, and lack of training.” Victims of jet ski accidents tend to suffer very serious and costly injuries including:
- Broken bones
- Head injuries
- Spinal cord injuries
When a jet ski operator is negligent, they can be held accountable through a civil claim. Negligence can come in many different forms. For example, a jet ski operator may have been speeding prior to a crash. The owner of a jet ski could also potentially be liable for a crash under the doctrine of negligent entrustment. The family of any person that died in a jet ski accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
