Motorcyclist Killed in Ozone Park Motorcycle Accident

Motorcyclist, 27, Dies Just Blocks From Home After Motorcycle and SUV Collide in Ozone Park

Tips to Prevent a Serious Motorcycle Accident

OZONE PARK, NEW YORK (October 31, 2026) – A 27-year-old motorcyclist has tragically died in an Ozone Park collision on Pitkin Avenue.

Queens County officials are saying that the collision occurred around 3:40 PM on Monday, October 19. A man was riding a 2019 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound along Pitkin Avenue when his vehicle was hit by a BMW X3.

Officers from the 106th Precinct and EMS were called to the scene of the collision after getting a 911 call. Paramedics found the man lying in the roadway with severe trauma.

He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with severe injuries. Sadly, he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The driver of the BMW remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Liability for Ozone Park Motorcycle Accidents

Every driver operating a motor vehicle in New York has a legal obligation to follow the state’s traffic regulations. Under VTL § 1141, a driver turning left must yield the right of way to any vehicle that is traveling from the opposite direction and close enough so as to constitute an immediate hazard. Motorcyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as other drivers that they share the road with. Courts will take into consideration numerous factors when evaluating liability for any motorcycle accident.

  • Speed: Courts will consider the speed of all vehicles involved in the collision.
  • Visibility: Courts will consider the visibility conditions at the time of the crash.
  • Intoxication: Courts will consider whether any driver was intoxicated by alcohol or some substance.
  • Accident History: Courts will consider whether the road or section where the accident took place has a history of similar incidents.

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a motorcyclist, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Liability for a motorcycle collision may extend to several different parties. This is particularly true if one of the vehicles involved was being used for some type of commercial purpose. Under New York law, employers can be held vicariously liable for the negligent conduct of their workers who were operating within the course and scope of their job duties.
