Liability for Queens Hit-and-Run Car Accidents
Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in hit-and-run collisions. According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, “In 2016, there were 1,980 fatal hit-and-run crashes resulting in 2,049 fatalities. If a driver flees the scene of an injury collision, they could also be held criminally responsible. It is important that certain steps are taken after any hit-and-run collision.
- Surveillance footage that may have captured the crash should be sought.
- Victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation.
- Fragments of the fleeing vehicle should be examined.
- An experienced New York pedestrian accident attorney should be contacted.
Fatal pedestrian accidents can be absolutely devastating to families. To make matters worse, there is the pain of not knowing who was responsible and what happened.
