E-Bike Rider Injured In Manhattan Car Accident by Bluemont Avenue and 4th Street

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (October 2, 2025) – A bicyclist was injured in a Manhattan car accident near the intersection of Bluemont Avenue and 4th Street.

New York City officials were saying that the collision took place around 12:35 PM on October 1. A bicyclist was attempting to cross the road when they were struck by a vehicle making a left turn.

Paramedics and police were called to the scene to help the victim. He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Toyota Prius involved in the crash was cited for failing to yield. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Manhattan Electric Bicycle Accidents

The proliferation of electric bicycles and other micromobility devices has been associated with a sharp rise in collisions. According to one report by Morning Star, “A shocking new analysis reveals just how dangerous America’s streets have become for micromobility riders. According to Avian Law Group’s Micromobility Accident Report 2025, e-bike injuries have surged from 751 in 2017 to more than 23,000 in 2022 – a staggering 3,000% increase.” Many different factors could contribute to electric bicycle accidents.

  • These collisions are much more likely to occur when drivers are speeding.
  • Drivers often hit pedestrians because they are simply not scanning the road ahead of them properly.
  • Many drivers that hit pedestrians are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid colliding with a bicyclist. Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1146, all drivers must exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians, bicyclists, and domestic animals in the roadway. Any driver intending to turn left must first yield the right-of-way to any cyclist that is close enough to pose a hazard. If a driver makes a left turn into the path of a cyclist, this could be construed as negligence. Victims of car accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.

  • Broken bones
  • Head injuries
  • Organ damage
  • Lacerations

Even after a person has physically healed from a car accident, they may be left with long-lasting psychological injuries. This can manifest through nightmares, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Any person that is injured due to the negligence of another driver may be able to seek some measure of justice through a personal injury claim. A New York bicycle accident attorney can examine your case free of cost and let you know what your legal options are.
