Investigation Underway After Building Fire in the Bronx Results in Two Fatalities, Multiple Injuries
BRONX, NEW YORK (April 26, 2026) – Two people have tragically died and 11 people were injured in a Bronx apartment fire by the intersection of E. 187th St. and Belmont Avenue.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 1:30 PM on Tuesday. Firefighters received reports of a heavy fire on the first floor of the building.
Photos of the scene showed smoke billowing into the air. There is a barbershop and deli on the ground floor of the building.
It remains unclear exactly where the fires may have started. Sadly, two people died due to their injuries.
Eleven people were transported to local hospitals to receive treatment.
