7-Year-Old Boy Injured In Bronx Collision At The Intersection of Bedford Park Boulevard by Goulden Avenue

Boy Injured In Bronx Car Accident on Bedford Park Boulevard

THE BRONX, NEW YORK (July 29, 2024) – A 7-year-old boy was injured in a Bronx car accident at the intersection of Bedford Park Boulevard and Goulden Avenue.

New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. A boy was crossing the road when he was hit by a vehicle.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the collision in order to help the victim. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital with a broken arm.

A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability For Bronx Car Accidents

Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured across New York every year. According to the New York Department of Health, “Injuries to pedestrians are among the top 10 leading causes of injury-related hospital admissions and death for almost all age groups in New York State. Approximately 300 pedestrians are killed and 15,000 are injured by motor vehicles each year on the state’s roadways, and more than 3,000 pedestrians are admitted to the hospital annually.” Drivers should take a number of measures to avoid hitting pedestrians.

  • Drivers should check their blind spots before making turns.
  • Drivers should slow down in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic.
  • Drivers should continuously scan the road ahead of them.

All drivers must take precautions in order to avoid hitting pedestrians. Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1146, all drivers must exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians, bicyclists, and domestic animals in the roadway. If a driver fails to slow down in order to avoid a collision, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Cities can also take a number of measures in order to prevent pedestrian collisions.

  • Cities should ensure that intersections are well illuminated.
  • Cities should install traffic-calming measures on roads with heavy traffic.
  • Cities should heavily enforce traffic infractions likely to lead to pedestrian collisions.

Pedestrian accidents are largely preventable. They tend to involve instances where drivers are traveling too fast for the prevailing conditions or failing to watch the road ahead of them. Sadly, though, drivers and their insurance providers will do everything that they can to deny liability for collisions. Any person who is injured in a pedestrian accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
