Woman Died in Sherburne Truck Accident

Investigation Underway After Woman Died in Sherburne Semi-Truck Accident During Snow Squall

Women Killed In Gloucester County Semi-Truck Accident On I-295

SHERBURNE, NEW YORK (April 11, 2026) – A 32-year-old woman has tragically died in a Sherburne semi-truck accident along State Route 12B.

New York State Police are saying that the accident took place around 1:43 PM on Tuesday. A tractor-trailer was heading northbound along the interstate when it drifted into opposing lines of traffic and collided with a vehicle.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help the victim. Sadly, the 32-year-old woman in the other vehicle died due to the severity of her injuries.

Authorities are saying that the accident took place during a snow squall. A full investigation remains ongoing.

Liability for Sherburne Semi-Truck Accidents

Truck drivers must use caution to avoid colliding with other vehicles in the roadway. This is particularly important during periods of adverse weather. According to NY Veh & Traf L § 1180, “No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing.” There are many steps that truck drivers could take to avoid collisions during periods of bad weather.

  • Truck drivers may need to dramatically reduce the speed of their vehicle. Even during great weather conditions, a fully loaded semi-truck can take the length of two football fields to come to a safe stop.
  • Truck drivers should strongly consider pulling over to the side of the road if weather conditions are so bad that it is difficult to see. Trucks should also activate their hazard lights during his conditions.
  • Truck drivers should continuously scan the road ahead of them and maintain a large distance between other vehicles.

If a truck driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle, this could be construed as negligence. There is simply no excuse for a truck driver to lose control of their vehicle. These types of accidents are nearly always the result of drivers that commit one or more traffic infractions. The family of any person who died in a truck accident is able to seek some measure of accountability through a wrongful death claim.
