Investigation Underway After Two Died, Two Injured in Bronx Car Accident by Park Avenue and Claremont Parkway
BRONX, NEW YORK (December 18, 2024) – Two people have tragically died, and two others were seriously injured in a Bronx crash by Park Avenue and Claremont Parkway.
New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Initial reports suggest that the two vehicles may have collided head-on.
Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victims. Sadly, two of the victims did not survive and died due to their injuries.
Liability for Bronx Car Accidents
Speeding remains one of the leading causes of collisions in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2022, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” There are a number of reasons why this is the case.
- Drivers are more likely to lose control at higher rates of speed.
- Drivers are less able to react to hazards at higher rates of speed.
- It takes much longer to stop a vehicle at higher rates of speed.
All drivers must use caution in order to avoid hitting other vehicles. This will include slowing down during times of inclement weather. There is a rebuttable presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that crosses into opposing lanes of traffic and hits another vehicle head-on. It is important that certain steps are taken after a car accident.
- A police report should be created.
- Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
- Surveillance footage should be sought.
- An experienced personal injury attorney should be contacted.
Car accidents are often highly preventable. They tend to involve situations where drivers fail to adhere to safety regulations. This includes instances where drivers are speeding or making unsafe lane changes. The family of any person who died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
