Liability for Gloucester Township Car Accidents
Thousands of people are seriously injured or killed in car accidents each year. According to the National Safety Council, “2023 marks the second consecutive decrease in deaths. Deaths decreased 3% in 2023, following a 2% decrease in 2022. From 2019 to 2021, deaths increased by 20%. In 2023, 44,762 people died in motor-vehicle crashes compared to 46,027 in 2022 and 46,980 in 2021.” There are many reasons that a head-on collision may take place.
- Head-on collisions are often caused by drivers who are speeding and lose control of their vehicle.
- Head-on collisions may be the result of vehicle systems failure, like tire blowouts.
- Head-on collisions may involve a driver who is intoxicated by some substance.
Drivers in New Jersey must exercise due care to avoid collisions. They must maintain their vehicle in the right lane of traffic with limited exceptions. There is a presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that enters opposing lanes of traffic and hits another vehicle head-on. Victims of head-on collisions tend to suffer very serious injuries.
- Broken bones
- Head injuries
- Lacerations
- Spinal cord injuries
Recovering from an accident can be one of the most challenging and difficult periods of a person’s life. Victims may face long recoveries and need to take extensive periods of time away from work. The drivers that cause these collisions and their insurance providers will almost never be helpful. Insurance companies are only concerned with making as much money as possible by paying out as little as possible when someone is actually injured. This is why it is so important that accident victims seek the guidance of an experienced New York car accident attorney.
