Two Injured In East New York, Brooklyn Apartment Fire

Woman and Man Critically Injured in Third-Floor Apartment Fire at 303 Bradford Street in East New York, Brooklyn

Jamaica Cement Truck Accident

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (November 24, 2025) – A woman and man were critically injured in an East New York, Brooklyn apartment fire at 303 Bradford Street.

New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 4:30 AM on November 19. Firefighters were called to the scene after getting reports of a fire on the third story of the apartment building.

Firefighters were able to locate the two victims and extricate them from the burning building. They were taken to Brookdale Hospital with critical injuries.

It took roughly 30 minutes for firefighters to get the blaze under control. A full investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.

Liability for East New York Apartment Fires

Residential fires remain a leading cause of preventable injury and death across New York and the United States. According to the National Fire Protection Association, “On average, a fire department responded to a fire somewhere in the US every 23 seconds in 2024. A home structure fire was reported every 96 seconds, while a home fire death occurred every three hours, and a home fire injury occurred every 59 minutes.” Apartment owners should take several measures to prevent fires.

  • Apartment owners should ensure that all of their units have working smoke detectors.
  • Apartment owners should perform routine inspections and maintenance on all appliances and electrical systems.
  • Apartment owners should ensure that building exits are unobstructed.

Apartment owners have a legal obligation to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition. They must ensure that they are compliant with all fire and safety codes. If an apartment owner fails to comply with fire codes, and this leads to a resident being injured in a fire, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person injured in the scenario may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
