A 45-year-old chef who had worked at some of the most prominent restaurants in New York City and throughout the world was severely injured when he slipped and fell in water and sewage. The water and sewage came from a break in a mainline pipe at one of the city’s more prestigious restaurants. The dispute concerned principles of engineering and who bore the primary responsibility between the restaurant and the hotel housing the restaurant. Defendants also disputed the severity of the injuries and the chef’s inability to obtain future work. As a result of our new affiliation with Of Counsel attorneys Jay Dankner and Ed Milstein, the matter was thoroughly prepared for trial. Senior Trial attorneys Jeff S. Korek, Jay Dankner, and Avi Laby were the primary attorneys assigned to the case. The matter settled on the first day of jury selection (Supreme Court, Bronx County) for $2.95 million.
