Liability For Stony Point Car Accidents
Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of serious injury and death in the United States. Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1129, “The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway.” Victims of car accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries including:
- Broken bones
- Head injuries
- Lacerations
- Spinal cord injuries
There is a rebuttable presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that rear-ends another vehicle in their own lane of traffic. Many accident victims may not realize the full extent of their injuries for several weeks or months after a collision. Any person that is injured in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of justice through a bodily injury claim.
