Investigation Underway After Two People Killed, 10 Injured in Long Island Collision on the Southern State Parkway in Hempstead
HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK (March 16, 2026) – Two people were killed and 10 people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on the Southern State Parkway in Hempstead.
Long Island police officials are saying that the accident took place around 10:13 PM on March 13. Several vehicles were traveling westbound on the interstate when they were involved in a collision near exit 17 S.
Authorities believe that a Cadillac was traveling westbound when it was involved in a collision with a BMW, an Escalade, and a black Toyota Highlander. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help all of the victims.
Despite life-saving measures, two people died due to their injuries. 10 other people who were transported to local area hospitals. One person is apparently listed in critical condition.
