GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NEW JERSEY (July 26, 2025) – At least 14 people were injured in a Gloucester County skydiving plane crash by the Cross Keys Airport.

Gloucester County officials are saying that the accident took place around 5:25 pm on Wednesday. The pilot apparently reported having engine problems before the plane crashed into a tree not far from the runway.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene to help the victims. In all, 14 people were injured in the skydiving plane crash, including the pilot.

At least eight of the patients were taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Liability for New Jersey Plane Crashes

Many people are seriously injured or killed every year in accidents involving small non-commercial aircraft. According to the National Safety Council, “Preliminary estimates of the total number of accidents involving a U.S. registered civilian aircraft decreased from 1,277 in 2022 to 1,216 in 2023. The number of civil aviation deaths decreased from 358 in 2022 to 327 in 2023. All but 4 of the 327 deaths in 2023 were onboard fatalities. None of these deaths involved a commercial scheduled airline.” There are a number of common causes of aviation accidents.

  • One of the most common causes of plane crashes is pilot error. In particular, the vast majority of mistakes in a flight take place during takeoff and landing.
  • Another common cause of aviation accidents is vehicle system failures. The engine or other component parts of an aircraft may give out.
  • The traffic control tower may give a pilot poor instructions, which could lead to two different aircraft colliding.

Skydiving companies have a legal obligation to protect their passengers from reasonably foreseeable sources of harm. Pilots must operate with an abundance of caution in order to avoid crashes. They must be mindful of all weather conditions that could impact the safety of their flight. When a skydiving company fails to operate an aircraft with care, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. It is essential that certain steps be taken after any plane crash.

  • A thorough investigation into the accident should be conducted.
  • The plane involved in the crash should be examined for defects.
  • The circumstances leading up to the collision should be understood.
  • An experienced aviation accident attorney should be contacted.

Plane crashes can be incredibly dangerous and leave victims with catastrophic injuries. Many accident victims may need to take extensive time away from work. They are often left with high medical bills that put them in an even deeper hole. This is why it is so important that any person injured in a plane crash seeks the guidance of an experienced aviation accident attorney. An attorney can help victims recover damages for all of the ways that they’ve been impacted.
