Several Injured In Bronx MTA Bus Accident on Grand Concourse

BRONX, NEW YORK (June 15, 2025) –  At least eight people were injured in a Bronx MTA bus crash at 1650 grand Concourse not far from E. Mount Eden Ave. and E. 173rd St.

New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 11:45 PM on Sunday. An MTA bus was involved in a collision under uncertain circumstances.

It remains unclear if another vehicle was involved in the collision. Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victims.

At least eight people were injured and taken to local area hospitals. A full investigation into the Bronx MTA bus crash remains ongoing.

Liability for New York City MTA Bus Accidents

Many people are seriously injured in MTA bus accidents each year. According to The Journalist’s Resource, “Scheduled and charter service accounted for 44% of total bus fatalities. The balance of deaths occurred with school buses (23%), urban transit (11%) and a variety of private shuttles, church buses and other services (22%).” Several factors may contribute to a bus accident.

  • Buses have a wide turning radius and are more likely to be involved inside impact collisions.
  • Buses have large blind spots that can obscure the presence of smaller vehicles.
  • Bus drivers are asked to work at odd hours and may naturally become fatigue.

Like all commercial drivers, bus drivers must operate with an abundance of caution to avoid collisions. They must operate at a safe speed at all times. If a bus driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with other vehicles or fixed objects, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. It is essential that certain actions are taken after any bus accident.

  • A police report of the incident should be conducted.
  • The actions of the bus driver leading up to the crash should be understood.
  • An experienced bus accident attorney should be contacted.

Depending on the facts of any case, the employer that a bus driver worked for could be held default for collision. As a general rule, employers are vicariously liable for the wrongful actions of their workers–insofar as those workers were operating within the course and scope of their job duties. Any person injured in a bus accident may be able to seek damages through a civil claim.
