Women Killed In Gloucester County Semi-Truck Accident On I-295

WOODBRIDGE, NEW JERSEY (March 27, 2026) – One person has tragically died in a Woodbridge dump truck accident on the New Jersey Turnpike.

New Jersey state police are saying that the collision took place around 10 AM on Thursday. A Kenworth dump truck was heading down the road when it was involved in the collision with an international tractor trailer.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help hold the victims. Both the dump truck and the international tractor trailer became fully engulfed in fire.

One person reportedly died due to the severity of their injuries. Another driver was taken to the hospital to receive treatment.

A full investigation into the collision remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Woodbridge Dump Truck Accidents

Dump trucks pose a number of unique hazards for pedestrians. They are much heavier than passenger vehicles. Even a low-impact collision could be catastrophic. According to the Engineering News-Record, “Dump truck accidents severe enough that the vehicle had to be towed away rose 9%, hitting 8,206 in 2016, the latest year statistics are available.” There are many factors that could contribute to a dump truck accident.

  • Speed remains a major contributing factor to many dump truck collisions.
  • Dump trucks have large blind spots that can obscure the presence of other vehicles, especially during turns.
  • Many dump truck collisions involve drivers that are following at an unsafe distance.

If a truck driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Depending on the facts of any case, there could be several liable parties for any dump truck collision. This includes the company responsible for operating a commercial truck. Employers are typically liable for the wrongful actions of their employees who were working within the course and scope of their job duties.
