One Person Killed in Madison County Truck Accident on State Route 12

MADISON COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (October 20, 2025) – A woman has tragically died in a Madison County truck accident on State Route 12 near Tackabury Road.

Madison County officials are saying the crash took place around 4:54 PM on Sunday. A 2018 Nissan Rogue was headed eastbound and attempting to turn onto State Route 12 when it was involved in a collision with a Chevrolet Silverado with a horse trailer.

The two vehicles collided in the intersection, resulting in major damage to both vehicles. Paramedics proceeded to help the victims.

Sadly, a 70-year-old female was critically injured and later died at the hospital. A full investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.

Liability for Madison County Truck Accidents

Car accidents remain a leading cause of preventable injury and death in the United States. According to the IIHS, “A total of 40,901 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2023. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s most recent estimate of the annual economic cost of crashes is $340 billion.” Several factors could contribute to a collision.

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Driver intoxication

Drivers must operate vehicles at a safe speed and take into consideration the prevailing road conditions. Drivers must be particularly cautious when they are making turns. Drivers intending to turn left must first yield the right-of-way to any driver close enough to pose a hazard. If a driver turns into the path of another vehicle, this may be construed as negligence. It is important that certain actions are taken after any car accident.

  • The police should be called to the scene so that they can begin an investigation.
  • Photos of the accident site should be taken.
  • Medical records related to injuries should be sought.
  • A thorough investigation should be conducted.

Car accidents are often highly preventable. They tend to involve situations where drivers are not following traffic regulations. Any person injured in a car accident will have recourse through a civil claim. This extends to the family of any person who died in a car accident. Surviving family members are able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim.
