Investigation Underway After 60-Year-Old Man Found Dead Inside Ambulance Near Sneakier Avenue and Pitkins Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn

Man Found Dead Inside Abandoned Brooklyn Ambulance

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (June 10, 2025) – A 60-year-old man was found deceased inside of an abandoned ambulance in Brooklyn, according to the New York Police Department.

New York City officials are saying that the incident began around 7:46 AM on Saturday. Police discovered a man who was unresponsive with serious trauma to his neck.

Emergency workers pronounce him dead at the scene. It remains unclear how the man ended up in the ambulance.

A full investigation into the cause of death remains ongoing.

Liability for Brooklyn Accidents

Millions of people are transported to emergency rooms every year in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “In 2022, 155 million emergency department (ED) visits occurred in the United States. During that year, about 5% of children had two or more ED visits in the past 12 months, and about 20% of adults had visited the ED in the past 12 months.” People may require emergency transportation for any number of reasons.

  • Car accidents
  • Assaults
  • Illnesses
  • Falls

Depending on the facts of any case, an emergency care provider could potentially face liability if a patient dies in their care. Emergency operators have a legal obligation to protect their patients from reasonably foreseeable sources of harm. If emergency service workers failed to remove a patient from an ambulance who later died due to their injuries, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. It is important that the circumstances of any such incident are properly investigated.

  • Medical records related to the incident should be sought.
  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
  • Surveillance footage should be collected.

It could be hard to know where to begin if your loved one has been harmed due to some type of malpractice. It is important for accident victims to understand that they do have legal options. The family of any person who died in an accident or assault may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim. An experienced personal injury attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
