NEWARK, NEW JERSEY (February 28, 2026)—At least three children were injured in a New York multi-vehicle car accident following an ICE chase by Clinton Avenue and 10th Street.

New York police officials are saying that the accident took place on Wednesday. ICE officers attempted to pull over a van.

This resulted in a police chase that led to a multi-vehicle collision. Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help all of the victims.

At least three children were treated for their injuries. A full investigation into the collision remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Newark Police Vehicle Accidents

Many people are injured in police chases every year across New Jersey and the United States. According to Injury Prevention, “There were 2654 fatal crashes involving 3965 vehicles and 3146 fatalities during the nine year study period. Of these, 1088 were to people not in the fleeing vehicle. These crashes often occurred at high speed, in the night, on local roads.” Several steps should be taken after any police crash.

  • Victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation.
  • Surveillance footage of the accident should be sought.
  • An experienced personal injury attorney should be contacted.

Depending on the facts of any case, a police department could be liable for a police chase that results in injury. Police chases are inherently dangerous and should only be used as an absolute measure of last resort. If police officers showed a reckless disregard for the safety of the public during a police chase, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Any person injured in the chase may be able to pursue damages through a civil claim.
