Six Pedestrian Injured in Bronx Accident on 149th Street

Investigation Underway After Six People Injured in Bronx Collision by the Intersection of 149th Street and Courtlandt Avenue

BRONX, NEW YORK (March 18, 2026) – Six pedestrians were injured in a Bronx car accident near the intersection of 149th Street and Courtlandt Avenue.

New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around Monday morning. A driver jumped the curb and then struck multiple pedestrians.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victims. Several people were transported to local area hospitals to receive treatment.

The NYPD is still searching for the driver involved in the crash. They reportedly fled the scene of the collision.

Liability for New York City Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrians are particularly vulnerable to hazards posed by motor vehicles. According to Injury Prevention, “Almost half (48%) of all MVC deaths in NYC were among pedestrians, compared with 12% nationally. Pedestrian death rates were highest among older age groups (⩾65 years). NYC’s older pedestrians were more likely than US older pedestrians to be killed at an intersection, during daytime and on weekdays.”Certain steps should be taken after any NYC pedestrian crash.

  • The police should be called to the scene so that they can investigate.
  • Medical records related to injuries should be preserved.
  • Any person injured in a NYC car accident should contact an experienced personal injury attorney.

Drivers are supposed to exercise due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian in the roadway. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting the pedestrian, this could be construed as negligence. Any person injured in a pedestrian accident may be able to pursue damages through a personal injury claim. Damages can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
