32-Year-Old Woman Killed in Sherburne Tractor-Trailer Truck Accident on State Route 12B
SHERBURNE, NEW YORK (March 30, 2026) – A 32-year-old woman has tragically died in a Sherburne truck accident along state Route 12B.
New York State police are saying that the incident took place around 1:43 PM on Thursday. A tractor-trailer was heading northbound on Route 12B during the snowstorm.
The truck driver reportedly lost control of their vehicle and drifted into opposing lines of traffic before colliding with another vehicle. Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victim.
Sadly, the woman in the other vehicle was beyond medical aid and later pronounced dead. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.
Truck drivers have a legal obligation to use a great deal of care to avoid colliding with other vehicles. According to NY Veh & Traf L § 1180, “No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing.” Victims of semi-truck accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.
If a truck driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Depending on the prevailing weather conditions, a truck driver may need to slow down well below the stated speed limit. The family of any person who died in a truck accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim.
We at GLK Law extend our deepest condolences to the family of the woman who died in this accident. This was a preventable tragedy that should have never taken place. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police.
