ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY (April 4, 2026)—A driver was killed in a Roxbury Township semi-truck accident on Interstate 80.
Roxbury Township officials were saying that the accident took place around 4:20 AM on Wednesday. A Jeep and a semi truck were involved in a collision for undetermined reasons.
The accident took place on I-80 by an emergency U-turn area. Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the injured victim.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.
Many people are killed or seriously injured each year in accidents involving semi-trucks. According to the National Safety Council, “In 2023, 5,375 large trucks were involved in a fatal crash, an 8.4% decrease from 2022 but a 43% increase in the last 10 years. The involvement rate per 100 million large-truck miles traveled is down 8% from 2022, but up 22% in the last 10 years.” Several factors could contribute to any car accident.
If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Depending on the specific facts of any case, liability for any truck accident could extend beyond any one truck driver. The company that they worked for could also be liable. Generally speaking, employers are vicariously liable for the wrongful actions of their workers who are operating within the course and scope of their job duties.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to the family of the man who died in this collision. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
